Your tour starts with a guided walk through Cattana Wetlands, where you'll explore a palm forest and learn about the local flora and fauna. The walk is wheelchair accessible.
Barron Falls – (Din Din)
Next, visit Barron Falls for a unique cultural experience with a Djabugay guide. Learn about the significance of this site and participate in a Calling to Country ceremony. The site is accessible.
Skybury Coffee Plantation
Enjoy a delicious lunch at Skybury Coffee Plantation, where you'll taste local coffee liqueur. The plantation offers accessible dining areas with views of the Atherton Tablelands and accessible bathroom facilities.
Emerald Creek Ice Creamery
Taste various ice cream flavors made on-site at Emerald Creek Ice Creamery. There is indoor or varanda seating available, as well as accessible bathrooms.
The gardens have beautiful native birds such as Red Winged Parrots, Rosellas and Rainbow Lorikeets that visit frequently.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway
End your day with a ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, offering stunning views of the rainforest canopy and two stops along the way.
The staff can slow the Skyrail down, or bring it to a complete stop for wheelchair boarding with a ramp. Attendants at each stop can radio ahead so staff can assist with disembarking.
You can choose to travel in your wheelchair, or have your wheelchair follow in the gondola behind you.
Wheelchair width: up to 630mm.
Wheelchair length: up to 950mm.
Wheelchairs should be tiltable so the front wheels can be raised for gondola loading.
The combined weight of the wheelchair and occupant should be manageable for operator-assisted loading.
Handles are necessary for easy lifting into the gondolas.
Complimentary wheelchairs are available at Skyrail if a personal aid is not suitable.
Red Peak
- Access ramps lead to the Rainforest Discovery Zone and boardwalk.
- The rainforest boardwalk loop is 175 metres long and on average 1540mm wide.
- Accessible toilet facilities, baby change, handrails, and low-set amenities are available.
- Bench seating is available in the Rainforest Discovery Zone.
Barron Falls
- Access ramps lead to the two waterfall lookouts.
- The rainforest boardwalk and The Edge Lookout loop is 285 metres long and 1670mm wide.
- Accessible toilet facilities, baby change, handrails, and low-set amenities are available.
- Bench seating is available next to the Rainforest Interpretation Centre and at boarding.
- The Rainforest Interpretation Centre has an 850mm-wide door reached by a short ramp.
Accessible Transport
- Down Under Tour's accessible coach features a hydraulic lift to accommodate guests using wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
- Designed with a side loading ramp, the coach can also tow a luggage trailer for mobility aids that cannot be carried inside the vehicle.
- The coach can be used as a standard 19-seat vehicle or reconfigured to provide space for 4 wheelchairs and 12 coach seats. The tour picks up and drops off at Cairns City Hotels.
